Me and the wife are thinking about making a move to a company that hauls aa&e for the government. Not sure exactly what all is involved though. Know we need to jump through some hoops to get clearance, but I'm not sure if we do that personaly or if we need to go through a company. Anyway, was just hopeing to get some thoughts on the subject.

If you do not already have an active U.S. government security clearance, the company that you hire on with or contract with will be responsible for initiating and sponsoring the clearance (and they are not cheap [the clearances that is]). My advice would be to contact several carriers that specialize in AA&E transport to find out what their requirements and processes are. AA&E hauling is a specialty branch of hazmat transport so be prepared for lots of government regulations and requirements. FYI, I don't know of any company that will hire you for that type of cargo without at least 1 year OTR. Most want more.Cornsquare Thanks this.

Was looking ar R&R out of joplin. Their website is saying 1-2 years experience. Just realised my profile still has me listed as a student. We've been going at it for close to a year and a half.
Funny enough the wife met a couple yesterday that hauled it for landstar yesterday. Said there were a hell of a lot of hoops to jump through and a lot of rules to follow but the upside was that the money was very good for a teammxpx148 Thanks this. -
Yeah, team pay for AA&E transport is very good. The folks your wife talked with are correct. The rules and regs for that type of hauling are mind boggling but worth the effort (IMO) if you can break into it. Landstar does have an AA&E division. Secured Land Transport of the Roadmaster group is another big outfit that does AA&E. There was another one I talked with but can't remember the name right now.

Also look at Boyle Transportation and TSMT (Tri-State)

Did you bother to think of the potential ramifications of posting your phone number on a forum that anyone on the planet can view? I'm guessing no...Last edited by a moderator: Aug 21, 2013
