I have a few of those incredibly strong magnets. Thinking about putting a couple on the dash and see if they hold my little Quad 6.

Is the dash metal, or is it covered in plastic?

    Plastic.

Silicone on the magnets to attach to plastic. The magnets are strong as a mother

Two rare earth magnets are what holds that diamond plate down behind the hitch. They are about the size of a silver dollar. Got to be careful when you put the plate over the hole, the magnets will suck it down and pinch your finger if you don't get it out of the way!

My concern would be the day you decide to remove the mount. Hard to say what the silicon could do to the plastic dash, after several weeks of extreme hot or cold temperatures.

I see what you are doing, silicone may be OK.

I had a driver who did sort of the same thing but he used some industrial glue to glue the radio to the dash, think gorilla glue on steroids. We could not get it off, I worked on it for an hour with different chemicals but to this day there is a radio stuck to the dash of that truck and it will never come off.

My findings: I have a Anytone Quad 6 with the bracket mounted upside down. I use a strip of velcro on the bracket and the corresponding strip on the dash. On the dash I have two tiny RE magnets that match up with the bottom rear corners of the radio. I simply used a dab of silicone sealer to hold each magnet to the dash. Seems to be working OK so far. I need to be able to remove the radio from the vehicle a couple times a week because the yard is not fenced. I was afraid the magnets would grip the radio too firmly but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Mount still hanging in there. Need to refresh the velcro tho. Too many duty cycles
