I'm thinking about purchasing a 22 ft ladder for when I start working as a flatbedder. Will this be tall enough to use to assist in tarping and strapping the taller loads?

a cdl would help even more....

j/k, but i would focus more on company research and studying you CDL handbook right now. If you want to buy something, get a good tool kit...there are lots of posts on here that have lists of good to have tools, and essentials....good luck to you!

Tallest load is 13'6. i never needed a ladder. Most places will have a taping startin or stairs to assist you if needed. 22 foot would be way to tall. Where are you going to store a 22 foot ladder on your rig? Ive seen some guys with "little Giants" but many of us have no ladder and get along just fine.

Thanks, I've got a bunch of tools collected already, just have to get a couple more and I'll be complete with the tools I'll need. For my CDL, I'm going to use my military driving experience and get my CDL that way. I'll only have to worry about the written test portion.

I was going to check to see what the span on a 22 would be and found that the only 22ft ladder I could find was a werner telescoping a-frame, similar to a little giant. Probably not bad, in its shortest position you could probably use it on the deck, scoped out it would be good on the ground. problem I see is its not a basic ladder, im sure there are moving parts which might not handle the weather quite as nice as a standard ladder.

Again I'm a newb around here so take that for what its worth.

I carried a 6' ladder, but rarely used it. Anything over that and you'll have storage problems. I've heard about the "Little Giant" Richter mentioned and heard they're really good, but I haven't actually seen one.

Thanks, then a Little Giant that expands to 14 ft would do the trick?

The 14' fold up ladder will do fine. I have had that on my truck for going on 5 years and it's held up fine. I also have the 22' one at the house and it's pretty heavy and a little overkill.
