The Swift Training Schools take you to get your permit after a few days of study. When I was in school it was three weeks, then to orientation, then on the road with a mentor. Call recruiting, they can answer most of your questions right off. About taking the truck home, depends on the terminal and how far you live from it and the freight that is nearby. Good Luck!

Yes, nearest terminal is Ocala. I believe your CDL training would start in Millington, TN and you will have to get your permit before going. After you are on your mentor's truck, you will be routed back to Florida to take your practical and get your license.

Orientation for you would be most likely Ocala.

Home time is something you work out with your Driver Manager. I've never had trouble getting home time, but I'm out of the Troutdale, OR terminal.

Taking the tractor home is terminal specific. Some allow it, others do not. It depends on the needs of the fleet.

I don't believe Swift is doing physical abilities testing any more. You will have to pass a DOT physical given by one of their medical providers.

Used to be you could park your truck at mcmullen-booth and union street, for home time. They charge a nominal fee......

You could also park a truck in the industrial part of safety harbor, as well as a few other locations.

Not sure if you still can.

Being in your location, Swift would be a good choice, with a terminal close by, that means getting home will be easier.

Ocala is one of the better terminals, and the folks there are easy to get along with.

    Good Luck !!!

They provide housing....For an additional 500.00 loan paid back # 23.00 a week for 6 months once solo. During CDL school, you arent paid. Once on a mentor's truck your paid 450.00/wk for 4 weeks, then 500.00/wk for 2 weeks. You pay back the loan for CDL school # 37.50/wk for 13 months then you recieve 37.50/wk for tuition reimbursement. Your recruiter will send you all the paperwork explaining everything when you talk to them.
