acording to website looks like nearest terminal is a 100 miles from me in ocala fl

Yes, nearest terminal is Ocala. I believe your CDL training would start in Millington, TN and you will have to get your permit before going. After you are on your mentor's truck, you will be routed back to Florida to take your practical and get your license.
Orientation for you would be most likely Ocala.
Home time is something you work out with your Driver Manager. I've never had trouble getting home time, but I'm out of the Troutdale, OR terminal.
Taking the tractor home is terminal specific. Some allow it, others do not. It depends on the needs of the fleet.
I don't believe Swift is doing physical abilities testing any more. You will have to pass a DOT physical given by one of their medical providers.tazaaa Thanks this. -

The permit thing must have changed since I went, We got ours there. My mistake.

injun
do they pay you during training ? or oreintation
do they provide housing ? -
Used to be you could park your truck at mcmullen-booth and union street, for home time. They charge a nominal fee......
You could also park a truck in the industrial part of safety harbor, as well as a few other locations.
Not sure if you still can.
Being in your location, Swift would be a good choice, with a terminal close by, that means getting home will be easier.
Ocala is one of the better terminals, and the folks there are easy to get along with.
Good Luck !!!tazaaa Thanks this. -
