You can idle in the winter but most trucks, minus the GA regional trucks, have bunk heaters so no idling necessary except to keep batteries charged.

I happen to have a bunk heater in my GA regional T660 and my idle time has been around 2% lately. In the summer time, the highest I have been was around 35-40% and while they prefer lower, they will not complain too much until it gets over 40-50% in the summer.

What kind of hometime do you get as a Ga. regional? Where's the terminal and is Jacksonville, FL in the hiring area?

regional is home every weekend unless you tell them you want to stay out. there are 2 terminals in GA one in Cartersville which is north GA and the other is Albany which is south. As for hiring out of florida i am not sure.

Bumbed here. I sent my application on Friday. I called today and was told it was DENIED. :(

The recruiter didn't know (or say) the reason. I'm 54, F, good driving record, live near Albany NY (on the hiring map), and have been steadily self-employed for the last 9 years. Yes, I file income tax so would have had proof of employment.

What do you think? Female or age? Or both?

Unfortunately, there aren't too many decent starter companies that hire out of my area, so now a bit afraid of going to CC, get my own CDL, and not get hired.

Recruiters say age doesn't matter, is that true?
