Amen!!!Why is everyone so down on Swift? I'm doing just fine! I will admit in the beginning it was rough but now I am finally making some money!! I can actually sit down for dinner! Well if I have time since Swift thinks I have one of those fast trains and have an imaginary friend in my truck who can also drive.

You will have to pass a road test and then drive with a mentor for six weeks. You will be paid 70 per day while training and the starting cpm is $.25

I know a lot of people are in it for the money, but as long as I can get 6 month of experience that is fine with me. Like I said before My Mom and Dad used to team drive for Swift and they absolutely LOVED it. So I think I am making the right decision. Yeah I hear horror stories but no one knows how true they are. Yeah every company has it ups and downs but they didn't get that big for treating there drivers as bad as I hear on this sight. Yeah some company's treat there driver like $&^#. If you have a problem with your trainer go higher than them an turn there but in.

No. Starting pay is 26cpm for the first three months, then 27cpm for the next month, then 29cpm for two months, 31cpm for three months and 34cpm after a year. But this is only for loads 300 miles and longer without any extras on them. There are several tiers to linehaul pay based on length of haul and location within the country. East gets a little more, teams get even a little more than that. Additionally, there is extra stop pay, detention pay, layover pay, hazmat pay and northeast bonus...among other things.

I know there are many companies out there paying more. But, do they have freight to keep you moving, what kind of equipment do they have, how much experience do you need in order to work for them.... There are companies paying less as well. I didn't have any trouble making a check at 26cpm my first three months out. It wasn't stellar, but it wasn't complete crap, either. And, again, they have freight.

You can get a job for 35cpm out the gate. But if you're only turning 1800 miles/week, you're still getting $630/week before taxes. Would you rather do more sitting around and running BS 14-stop loads where you're working your butt off for crap? Or get more real road experience and run longer-haul loads with fewer stops? There is a reason some companies have to offer more for new drivers. It's because they otherwise wouldn't get them. Because their program bites.

After you have at least 1 year experience with a clear DAC, you can move to a more desireable position. If you make it three to five years, you can pretty much write your own ticket. But you have to start somewhere.

dang i laughed so hard picturing u doing all those things but it really doesnt have to be that hard u will make about 350 a week as a rookie driver it all depends if you got bills at home like rent and utilities then u will do everything Blu says to the dot but if you live out of your truck u should be ok.Always carry plenty of canned food this will be trial and error till you find your favorite kinds plenty of water and sodas 100 bucks at wal mart will carry you for two weeks without spending a dime maybe just on ice as far as clothes carry two weeks worth and try to do laundry at home when you get back.Swift is a good start up company dude plus new trucks you will be comfortable dont hesitate to ask questions to your trainer make sure you know exactly how to get off steep hills and usage of jakes before you go on your own but whatever you do dont give up it will get better
