I am thinking of leaving a Wal-Mart dedicated job and going over the road and training. I am in Florida and want to know, realistically, how often would I get home time.

If you have to ask, probably not as much as you would like.
Usually figure 6 or 7 days out, 1 in. But that does not mean you would be home every week, might be 3 or 4 weeks before you see the house. Then 2 or 3 days ( or portions there-of ) off.
Especially being in the Bikini State. Some carriers do not run Florida, and will not hire drivers who livethere, as freight going out is sparce for trucks.

If I can get home every 5 weeks I'll be happy. Swift doesn't technically hire from my zip code, but the driver managers in Ocala say it's not a problem. The Wal-Mart account is killing me. I never know if I am coming or going. At least OTR I'll probably know what I will be doing after my 10 hour break.
