Well i am new to this place and not even sure whether this is the right place to raise this question so if im wrong please advise me which section i should write

Basically i have been driving for about 1 year+ in Malaysia and hauling cement in tanker which is about nearly 50 feet long, but since im 19 years old and my dad who is a trucker too ask me to work abroad which is either europe or US.

I never been to States or any Europe country before so i have no ideas wat sort of law and regulations u guys have over there but i wanted to share my experienced as a trucker over here

If any of u guys came here,im quite sure u will at least know the trucking industry over here.We dont have any tight rules over here and basically the authorities would ask us to keep the truck in good condition such as good tyre, possed a valid driving license and make sure the truck doesn't possed danger to other road user, btw we must take the truck for full inspection once in every 6 months or else we can't renew the road tax

For owner operator like my dad, most of repair work have to conduct by ourself and i been doing that since im 15 years old.I just wondered if i work for any company over there,do i need to DIY while on the road if any breakdown?
To be frank i do not possed any valid documents since we only could get CDL at the age of 21 and above. But i still drive by bribing the authorities every month since my dad ask me to use only a same route.

Lastly i would like to ask an experience trucker these questions.
1)Have u guys seen any indians driver before
2)Is the living cost to expensive over there?

well there would be more questions later on
    Regards Nesh:biggrin_25519:

We have drivers from all over the world. I've met several from India and all over the Middle East.

If you come over you will need to come on a H2B visa which only about 66,000 are given a year and are only good for I think 10 months then you have to head back home.

As for DIY on trucks. No that is pretty much covered by the company you will work for.

You will need to pass the CDL tests here and get an American CDL for the state of the company you work for.

Be advised: Even though the pay here is better than what you make in India it has gone down due to the current economic crisis and some of these companies who hire from over seas WILL cut your pay! They are what we call BOTTOM FEEDERS! You know scum sucking fish that eat off the bottom of a ###### filled stream! It is almost like being an indentured servant or slave!

I think for the next year or so you will do better staying at home till this mess is straightened out!
    Good Luck

    Thanks bro for the info
well i'm not from India either but a Malaysian Indian, since u told about the visa, can't a person stay longer than the duration u mentioned?

im not even sure how to start when i get there, should i apply to work in a company or just become a co driver wit any owner operator cause i certainly don't want my pay to be cut to bottom line

is it to difficult to become a owner operator over there cause myself can be consider one over here and i certainly dun wan to be hooked up by any company and i always wanted to be independent

Btw how do u guys treat a foreign driver,do u people look down at the person cause he is in your place and doing ur job?To be frank i certainly don't want to be in place where people would look at me like a trash

ANY OF YOUR GUYS ADVICE IS APPRECIATED IT
    regards Nesh

The Visa is 2yrs with potential to extend twice, after which you must within 2 weeks IIRC depart the us.. again iirc, for a minimum of 6 months..

I too am presuing moving to the usa, except on a permanant basis.

USIS website has all pertinant information regarding visa and such.
For trucking Co questions, here is an excelent start.

Well, when you call them, they just direct you to the website.

Should you choose to visit them, you will need to make a booking, and PAY A FEE.

Easier to simply visit the website, that the embassy will reference anyway.

Been there, Done that, couldnt afford the T-shirt
