I am currently attending TDI for my cdl. I have 8 prehire letters and am most interested in tmc. John is my recruiter and have talked face to face with kelby. I have been in the military for the last ten years (infantry) and am no stranger to work. I am familiar with recruiters so have no illusions of grandure by what they say, after all their job is to get you in the door. Their equipment stands out to me, most companies will start you out (and probably keep) you in some freightliner trade truck, where tmc is going to put you in quality to start, that says alot to me. If I understand it right (rumors) they put you in a short nose pete. Please correct me if i'm wrong. Also my cdl is costing me over 6k and do not to work some where where they may try to push me to run illegal. Would like expeirenced tmc driver to, if possible, help fill some gaps. I live in ms wondering what to expect load wise. Home time is in the air, like I said, I have no illusions of grandure, I know to make money means being behind the wheel under a load not at home under moma. I am willing to give any company 110%. Any advice would be great, helpful, and taken whole heartedly. Csn even hit me up with a text if possible 6013197208. Thanks kritter

    Welcome

We have great trucks and equipment at TMC. You should get a short nose. If you want a 387 , you can get that as well. Some folks like them. They take great pride in their trucks.
They will not ask you to do anything illegal. All they want is for you to do the best you can. They know how many miles you went that day, hours, etc. They know if your goofing off or working. They will give you all the support you need.

I think where you live is in the every other week home area. But you have a great shot at more weekends considering the I-59 corridor. steel and lumber mostly will be your bread and butter. I`m guessing you already have a TWIC card, so have fun in N.O and Mobile:biggrin_2559:

They also have a reimbursement program for CDL schools.

No twic but read that will need to start the process of getting one within 30 days if I get employed. Have decided to go with tmc though. I59 is good for me cause I live a straight 4 miles off 59, also just south of 20. Getting home every weekend is not what im in this for. From what I read from the complainers (my take is) that they got so wrapped up in getting home that they didnt realize that that doesnt let you get to far out. I want to make money. Prolly gonna go with long haul. But before I get to wrapped up in all that just need to make sure I get hired. Any pointers for orientation would be appreciated. Thanks for the info though.

I understand going home isn`t a priority. Just that you live in a great area for when you do. If you want to stay out and do more, you need to let your FM know Mon so they can set you free!! And they will run you all you want.

Your right about the complainers. Met another TMC driver this morning from AL. He was in Dallas complaining about how he was gonna get home!!!:biggrin_25513:

Orientation is good. Just listen and learn. Nothing to it. Hotel is awesome.

Yeah, never could understand people who go otr and then wanna be home every 6 days. Get a day cab job. With tmc I see guys getting wrapped up on that 42 weekend think, but cant read the fine print, it says most drivers not all drivers, depending on home location. Thanks again for the info. Ill start orientation on the 16th. Hope to see you out on the road. Oh, how do you like those petes'?

    Hello Kritter11B,,,
I started with TMC about a month ago and love it... I have over 3yrs under my belt driving but am new to FlatBedding. I did my research, as you did, and glad I picked TMC. They work me non stop. You being in the Military, like me, I know you can work and probably prefer it..you will have it with TMC. I don't like sitting around waisting time or money and so far, I am happy with the money. Keep an open mind, use your training from the Military and don't expect much. You will work and they expect you to keep THEIR truck clean and neat,,,that should be easy for you Infantry types...LOL

i would think with the rising fuel cost percentage would be better as the cost of the freight will go up so that means a pay increase.
