This is about a bad school...

Sorry to tell you but you got ripped off big time. $6300 is absurd.

Im sure they promised you the world, but had you done some research on here first you would know that getting a local job with zero experience is very hard to say the least.

However if they are not even trying to find work for after it was agreed they would, you might have a case.

OK, that right there should have been a huge red flag! An "instructor" after just getting your CDL and having ZERO experience yourself? Are you sure the 21 year old has no experience?

The school I went to said come back in 5 years if you want to be an instructor!

Wasn't he driving with a trainer? It's not like Roehl set him loose solo on NYC with zero hours behind the wheel.

I would talk to a lawyer if I were you about this school.

 

Contact the Pa Department Of Higher Education in most states the Department regulates these places and will get to the root of the problem.

Were you having issues with the backing portion?

Did you miss any days in school where you were suppose to be on the road

I know some schools will not let you hit the road untill you can demonstraite that you can back the truck safely.

Now that does not give them the right to only let you drive for 3 hours on the road. .

If you missed any days in school most have policy's that state it is not their respnsibilty to allow you to make up those days as they were there on those days you were suppose to be there if you do not show up then it would be responsibilty to pay extra to make up those days.



As per standards they must give you so many hours on the road instruction. However they are not required to do it for free if you miss your scheduled times.

Did you talk to the school and say hey this is unacceptable only giving me 3 hours on the road time?

I am not trying to attack you just asking some questions about your situation and providing feedback from some the rules when I went to school.

6300 is way too much to pay for school does that include intrest?

The school I went to only costs 4260 now it is more I thought that was a little high too but the state paid for my school through the WIA program.

 

You should contact two seperate places. First the Attonery General of PA and site fraud and second but most importantly...Contact the department of homeland Security and mention that you were not sure everyone in that school was US citizens. $6300 is three times the going rate for a real school. Someone must have oil money backing them to afford that.

 

you could contact OOIDA theyll look into the legitamacy of the school, just do a search for ooida ull find the contact info that way.

 

First of all they CANNOT revoke your license for not paying your school off, no matter what they say! PA CD100 is just a promisory note and lets them(the school) claim legal and administrative fees if you default on the loan. But as far as revoking your license, that is not their call.

I doubt real seriously if they were thinking about making you an instructor, I would have to see that in order to beleive it. Just about every school out there you have to be at least a "million-mile safe" driver in order to even be considered as an instructor. If the 21 year old is an actual road instructor then they could not even hire him legally. Although as a yard instructor they could.

Also ABSOLUTELY NO school can promise you a job, all they can promise is job leads or prospectives. They cannot promise you a job. They may have promised you this verbally, but I guarantee they didnt promise this in writing--because they would no doubt be challenged on it.

A school's job is to get you ready to take the CDL tst and that is their only real purpose, your real training comes with whatever company you go to work for. And actually 7 weekends was probally about right. My school was only 16 days, that was sun-up to sundown in December in Southern Indiana where it was colder than well you know. Usually minimum requirements for a school are somewhere around 150-170 hours (depending on the state)with like 30 hours of that classroom, and the rest practical (as in behind the wheel).

If you think that they werent up to par or something then you may want to get a hold of your state education dept and file a complaint. You may not get your money back though, since you did sign a valid agreememt for the loan(which the school had nothing to do with, BTW,. That is between you and the loan company.) Also $6300 is probally about right. 7 years ago mine was about $6800, but that also included 3 weeks hotel bill. Insurance is rediculously high for these schools because of the equipment that they have and the upkeep on it, plus the fact that all their students are on permits. That is why these schools are so high. Some I have seen charge upwards of $10,000 per person
