You're right, my post was a bit harsh. And for that I apologize to some extent. I was just blown away by a man downing HIS country because HE couldn't get a job because HE weeded himself out, then making a personal attack on a previous poster. My original intent was to attempt to explain to him why he was having a difficult time finding a job, but I just became too aggravated. For that I apologize.
Opi, I sincerely wish you the best of luck
SoonToBeTrucking, thank you for being so rational.
This is discouraging, is there any hope for me?

the five would be JB hunt, CR England, US Express,Swift and Werner
I guarantee you'd be hard ressed to tell me anything about a "hard" life that I havn't lived... But I still wouldn't hire you. Sure eople change, I did but not many and I'm not going to be the one to loose $3k on a fuel card just before a guy disappears and abandons a truck. -

You know, I'm reading the posts here, and I have to say we've all got our own problems and we could all probably cry till we're blue in the face about them. Everyone's got problems it's just a matter of degrees.
To the orginal starter of the thread:
You screwed up. Now you are paying for it. It's harsh, but it's the truth. I believe your info says you're 23. You say insurance fraud when you were 18, and a major speed violation just close to three years ago. Well that speeding is considered reckless driving from a CDL standpoint. Hell from any standpoint. Having an insurance license myself, I can say that you are a major high risk for any insurance company now. So maybe you've changed, realized the error of your ways, and are trying to clean up your act. You might just have to put off driving a truck for a few years, get a steady job and keep it for longer than six months or a year (not saying you're a job hopper, just that you need to show responsibility and steadiness) more like three or four years. Then if you still want to drive give it a go. Or else look at some of the construction companies local to you. Or try to find an owner operator that would be willing to give you a chance.
And loose the ####y, poor me, I'm entitled attitude. Because that's what comes through in your post. If you've changed and cleaned up your act, then humility needs to be part of that change. I'm not saying you are a bad person, just that you are young, and still too #### sure of yourself and your "entitlement" to things. I've been there too. I was that age once, not so long ago. It's nice to be young and invincible, but when you've made a mess of your life, it isn't going to get you anywhere. I'm still ####y (always say I am the Goddess), but I know when to "turn it off" and show some humility.
I could cry about how crappy my life is, and I do sometimes, but I also realize that I'm not any more entitled to things than anyone else is. I've been looking for a job for three years now. I ended up pregnant with a surprise baby shortly after I lost my last job. So then no one would hire me because I was pregnant and would be leaving for maternity leave shortly after hiring for a while. Then the baby was born preemie, and I had to stay home and take care of him. Couldn't find a sitter that would take a preemie baby that was on a heart/breathing moniter. When I was finally able to get back to looking for work, no one wants to hire me because I've been unemployed for too long and obviously don't have a "real" desire to work. Boo Hoo!! Yes I've b****d about it. But it doesn't change it. And I've finally lined up a job with a friend who runs grain if I can pass my license test again. It's been fifteen years since I drove a truck.
I've got "mistakes" in my past as well. Bad mistakes. I wish I could go back and change them, but I can't and now I have to deal with the consequences. You dealt yourself the hand you've got, and now you've got to make the best of it. I know it's hard to see it getting better, but just keep trying. Someday it will. You might not notice it because it will just be little things that slowly get better, but it can happen if you try. If you sincerely want to change your life, and change yourself, you've got to start with what you've got and what mistakes you've made. Whatever you do, always give it your honest best. Maybe try getting a degree in another field. I know it sucks, but no one ever said life is a rose garden. And I'm not trying to come off being a b**** because I totally understand how your past can really haunt you and screw up your future. Hubby and I have had that problem recently. -
ya I'm sure stevens could be in there but to be honest that's just my list and I don't know much about Stevens although it seams what I do hear isn't good

i gotta say. im going to be going thru school soon to be an otr trucker, and i fearing its going to be hard to find a job bc of my age at only 23. even tho i have not had a ticket since i was 16, 3 months after i got my liscence. but since then, ive had a perfect record, and im STILL worried about how likely its going to be for me to get a job at a good company to start.
to be honest, i dont blame the trucking companies to be doing what they are doing. i dont have a lot of respect for some one who drives with out insurance, gets caught, and then ####### about it. then ####### about getting a ticket for going 23 over the posted limit, and still thinks a trucking company of your choice should hire you.
and im SURE you can get a job somewhere for the next 3 months. i had a stoner friend that told me that once too...im not calling you a stoner at all, just saying, get out there and look. there is bound to be some one willing to hire you. Wendys? mcdonalds? krogers? wal-mart? even a factory job? i worked at a factory for almost 3 years, and i was probably the ONLY employee there that did NOT have a record of any kind.
all im saying is, there are places out there that hire ANYBODY. you just gotta look -
Well Drummer you shouldn't have too much problem as long as your driving record is clean, no criminal record, and a steady employment history. You probably have a decent amount of prehires to choose from.

opi, on 2nd thought, I'll apologise to you. It sucks to have you mistakes screw you over. Trust me, contrary to what your opinion might be, I've been there.
I will say that you do come across as cryin' that life isn't fair only for you. That the trucking companies, and this country in general, are givin' you a raw deal. It was the tone of you post, rather than the info, that I reacted to.
Finish school, wait out the time till October, then get on with a company that will take you without experience. Get a min of 6 months of your butt in a seat, and you'll have much greatet hiring possibilities.
