Good luck in your new adventure. -
LOL
I drive with the seat on the floor,.. no air in it. So those peg sticks never worked for me. They wont line up.
I drive with a mental awareness of where the truck is and should be. I call it driving by the seat of your pants and instinct. Other people/mechanics who try to drive my truck ask how I can drive with out seeing the hood and where the truck is going? I respond,.. I see the windshield,.. I know where everything is because the truck tells me through the seat of my pants. I just feel it. I dont know how else to describe it. My eyes are usually focused 300 - 500 feet ahead of me. Unless I am in heavy traffic and need to watch the mirrors,.. I rarely fixate on whats immediately around my truck. I use my peripheral vision and feel to keep it between the lines. Thats why hood mirrors distract me,.. because they mess with my peripheral vision.

I have them on my truck,on both sides,i don't use them that much, but they came in handy in few situstions. Example,im leaving company driveway and i need to turn left on curvy road. Sometimes it is impossible to see thru window if anybody is coming from my right untill i look at right side hood mirror.

Those idiot sticks are actually quite useful on an older w9, or really any truck with a hood the size of a barn door and no slope to it. when backing into a very tight dock with a curb across from it, it allows you to see where the far corner of your unit is. Not exactly required, but can save you a thousand dollar bumper on a day you may not be at your best.

The hood mounted convex mirrors are very useful, but I prefer only having one one the right so when exiting a rest area or any other place parked diagonally it lets me check the lane I'm about to enter. It also usually stays clear when the other mirrors fog up. The marker sticks on the edge of the bumpers I have never used, so don't know about them.

Found your bicycle...
A skilled operator has the spatial awareness to know where the "unseen" parts of his truck are located in relation to the parts he can see...thus my grandpa's name for them. -
I have those hood mirrors on my truck. They came with it when I bought it. I don't like the way they look but I thought they were useful because you can see a lot in them especially when looking straight ahead.
Anyway I have been thinking of taking them off and in the 1200 miles I drove the last couple days I paid a lot of attention to my mirrors on both sides. Particularly I was looking for any scenarios where the hood mirrors showed me something my regular mirrors did not. I watched cars passing me on both sides and really the only time you can see them in the hood mirrors and not the others is when they are right beside or in front of your side mirrors and you can see them out the windows at that point.
I plan on taking them off. They really offer me no benefit that I can see and my GPS blocks the passenger one anyway unless I lean forward.
Anyway after the thread derail I thought I would add that looks like a great truck. Just need to spruce it up a little to make it "yours" -

seriously people, why do you care so much about others' personal preferences?
