They're definitely not kind about this in NJ. near where I work in Linden there's a big shopping center along US 1&9 the police are always chasing trucks out of. Out in the more rural parts of the country you can get away with parking in shopping center parking lots but around here it's generally a no-no.

Some Wally's have been completely taken over by trucks
I fully expect a nationwide ban soon
Honestly, I would if I were Wally.
I went into Jimmy Doyle's in Little Rock on a Friday night.
A Swift pulled in. Both guys got out and pissed in the lot
In the morning they emptied their ash trays in the lot and tossed out their garbage.
They never went inside, never spent a dime.
And then drivers complain that there's no place to park.
A few can ruin it for all.

Years ago that one guy would come out and see if you needed a ride to the door and to make sure you were going in.
It is so rare for me to get there on a Saturday night, sigh

The last two times I was there I got bothered by ladies that will never make the cover of Vogue.
One at midnight and one at 8am Sunday morning.
The latter I gave 5 bucks just to go away.
They weren't deterred by my age.

Just a bit of correction, Airline pilots, from every country has to follow IATA hos rules that limit them 100 hours of flying per month. Train engineers also have to follow federal hours of service regs and I believe some plant operators are subject to hours of service too.
If you fly enough you will fall victim to this when your flight gets cancelled because the pilots ran out of hours and they need to wait for fresh flight crews to come and take over the flight.

Anyway, hos rules didn't just pop up from out of nowhere. It's been around for decades. The difference is that in trucking they leave it up to driver to find a solution as opposed to planes, trains, and refinery plants where it's the dispatchers/ schedulers job is to find a solution. Truckers want to be independent and don't like to be bossed around so here you go. Be independent and find your own solution and stop #####ing.
