I lost two suitcases one time. We booked a flight to Beijing from Nashville. Had to change planes in Chicago.
Arrived in Beijing and two suitcases missing.
About a week later, to Chinese women wearing flight stewardess uniforms and driving a white van, came to our home in Beijing.
They had our two missing suitcases. Told us they were found in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Nothing was missing or damaged. We had address & phone number information inside the suitcases and in the front small pouch.
The stewardesses didn't work for the airlines we flew on. They said they're delivering the suitcases to us as a courtesy. There was no charge for the service and the stewardesses refused a tip.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
Read the article and there's really nothing you can do to prevent luggage from going missing other than to take direct flights, which only lessens the likelihood of missing luggage.
Second suggestion is to pack and mix your luggage. Keep essentials with you, including a change of clothes, medications, chargers, and whatnot. Pack various clothing in different bags i.e. don't pack all your shirts in one bag.
Take photos of your bag in addition to its contents. Lightweight tracking devices are also recommended.
Apparently, Europe is where most is the world's luggage goes MIA.
That is all I have for you fine folks today. -
Lots of luggage thieves in Europe from the Roma Gypsy community. They're never punished for luggage theft, shoplifting, pickpocketing and other scams.
Law enforcement says the Roma Gypsies each make about $3000.00 a day just on pickpocketing.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -

I like how this guy manhandles this pickpocket. -
Unless it’s an absolute necessity, I travel light and only bring what I can carry on and I’m pretty stealthy at slipping by with some extra carry-on luggage. I can’t stand checking bags. I fly internationally and sometimes I’ll use a domestic airline to fly out of the city that’s cheaper which means if I check a bag I’ve gotta check it twice. No thanks. There’s an old saying, those who travel light and those that wish they did.
