It's 4:39 AM I'm behind the wheel my bloodhound is asleep on the seat next to me with his head on my lap. I'm on a lonely stretch of highway 70 W about 20 miles west of Okeechobee Florida. It's pitch dark in every direction and I can't see a single car or truck in the distance. This is as peaceful as it gets.
My medical card expires in a few months and there is no conceivable way I will ever see another.
I don't know why I love doing this so much I've never quite been able to define it. But I am sure that I do love it and I'm #### sure going to miss it.
I have lost one testicle, a piece of my left breast, and my right adrenal gland to tumors. I have one every battle in that war. The problem is that the pain from my physical injuries over the years has reached a point where I cn no longer live without the pain medication.
Just a few thoughts as I reflect on a loney oad in the middle of nowhere i'm literally driving into the unknown.
This is what I'm going to miss most

Wow I'm tearing up man thank u for ur service I'm a cancer survivor I lost my right kidney and both adrenal glands . in 08 scary #### . I hope u find something to keep you busy it is getting harder and harder to keep your medical card now a day. there are great old school drivers not many out here the road has changed I live in mass. and run thru Vermont and new Hampshire and there ain't nothing like running out of Boston up thru the north early mourning no-one on the road as the sun peaks over the tip of the mountains it's a beautiful thing god bless and best of luck just enjoy your time we're only here for basically a blink of an eye enjoy what you got and grab the dog jump in car and take him for an early mourning ride stop at your regular places and grab a coffee reminiscing of the good old days . keep on trucking brother much love and respect.

Im a pain patient myself, frankly Ive had enough memories similar to yours, ultimately we all have a journey alone as we pass through this life. I found that I am still a little bit useful here and suspect you would too when you settle down at home on the computer.

Thanks, I haven't been doing this all that long not legally anyway. But it is funny how life looks so much different on the way out and put it on the way in. First I chased a good time, then I chased money, now I just chase peace.
Planning my retirement right now in a 69 pete, pulling an RV.

Do you feel any adverse effects from losing both adrenal glands? i'm just curious having already lost one

Less fight and flight response for sure. Im working that issue myself. But no one is going to be cutting them out if I have anything to say about that.BIGZILLA Thanks this.

Sounds very peaceful. I believe there are other ways to find that sense of peace. I used to hike and stand on top of mountain tops to find it. Same feeling as driving in a long quiet stretch of road. The best part about hiking was inviting others to do it with me. Lots of people find their peace somehow. Maybe after driving you'll find something that makes you feel good and find someone to share it with.

Well, only been out here a touch more than a year myself but the peaceful aspect of driving is out there for sure... I enjoy that part a lot too although my dog is either sitting or laying on the floor beside the drivers seat, or in the bed.
As mentioned above, please keep hanging out here on TTR... many of us newbies can always glean some insides from the more experienced drivers among us here on TTR.

They have given me pills I need to take daily to replace the hormones produced buy my adrenal glands the only one I've noticed is you look like you have a tan year round. as for loss of adrenalin I still get excited but because I was diagnose with stage 4 cancer and could lose the battle that has a big effect on what is and isn't a big deal
