    At that point in one's trucking career, it's best to find a local position elsewhere. Or become the night cashier in some small town convenience store out in the middle of nowhere.

    It's been three-plus years since I was last in any part of CA for any reason. No where is perfect. But I'll gladly take the ultimate pay-hit(getting fired) to stay out of there if push came to shove.
