If you can afford it then go for it. You won't get past the first DOT enforcment vehical or scale though. All them numbers on the side of a truck mean something and they are not free. DOT rolls down the road all the time and keys these numbers up on their rolling computers. If they don't jive then you get pulled over. Not to mention the tests you have to go through to get that special letter on your drivers liscense. In North Dakota it is 50 bucks a pop for each endorsment and you have to spend another 100-200 dollars to get that little card from the Doc saying you are fit to drive a vehical grossing at 80,000+ down the highways.
This is *WHY* one must not "Blend" Amateur Radio with "CB"

I dont need my truck to effectively play both sides of the field
Why would you need a truck to do what you already do?
silentpardner Thanks this. -
Law is law and if you feel it's not right go get it changed ......
I know truckers as a group FOLLOW trucking laws and know them WELL .... And feel everyone needs to do the same ......
Radio laws are no diffrent except the FCC is not able or willing to enforce them so people feel this being the case they have no reason to obey them . When you work on part 90 radios ( Public Safety ) the FCC does enforce the rules just like the DOT does the trucks.
IF someone feels the rules need to be changed FILE the paperwork and get it done ..... you never know you just might get what you want ....
MANY CB RULES have changed since 1958 this could be the time with a leader to get more done ......

HE "couldn't be found", either last week!
Uh, a fellow ham "found" him on 28.085 last week. I trust Laura Smith has already contacted Iceland Logistics by now.

No idea what you are talking about ...... fill us in ..... -
A friend of mine (ham) was driving in NC and there was a driver on 28.085 AM calling "Break 19, fer a radio check". I think he was trying to talk to my buddy who working CW on 10 Meters. After performing a few checks and putting his "attenuator" into play to make sure, he determined it was that particular truck. AND there were NO other big trucks around as he observed the guy picking up his mike and SAYING, "Break, there, you gotta ole copy?" He then notified Ms Smith at Gettysburg FCC. Letter to company to follow.
Guess HE couldn't be "found", right?
Stay OUT the ham, bands and you gots no probs!!!!!

(If you wanna play games, its only a matter of time. The hams WILL defend their turf!) -
OK got you ......
Untill the locals here got going on a intruder watch we would here them on 28.085 too but with the FCC in tampa it didn't take long for it to quite down . -
Look, I'm all about you guys having the legal rights to those frequencies and not wanting unlicensed users on them but give it a rest on the forum! If you catch someone places they shouldn't be then do your thing and turn them in but give it a rest here. You should try to be more like WA4GCH. I have a lot of friends that are hams and none of them act like you.silentpardner and Chain Drive Thank this. -
I wish FCC would monitor and enforce the cb freq's. They will get a base station every so often but thats about it. Personally I believe that eventually that the "CB Mike" will be done away with from the avenue of distracted driving. Just like the texting ban on cell phones.
