Shutdown last night at Petro truck stop in Kingdom City,MO. Around 1-1:30 in the morning I’m woken up with a thud and peek out the window and see a truck attempting to park in a spot almost directly across from me. His trailer hit my mirror and of course there was paint transfer.
Your lucky I got woken up at the Flying J with stuff literally falling off my shelves. Truck next door pulled out with his tandems slid forward and dog tailed the whole side of my truck. Nearly missed coming through the full-size sleeper window in my Western Star that my head was lying inches from. . He caught my stack and tore it down along with both my mirrors and damaged the front fender and scraped the whole side of the truck from beginning to end. I woke up and got on the horn but he fled . Needless to say I never slept with my head on that side again.
Truck is barely 2 months old and already the victim of a Chicagoland outfit-go F’n figure!! Needless to say,I wasn’t amused. Driver gave up trying to park in the spot across for me(too late)-which given the tightness of the situation that he actually should’ve known better.(G.O.A.L. people) He ended up parking next to me and I got his information.
Wow man . I guess if theres a positive , it didnt do any major damage ? I always nose in , in the backrow at that truck stop
The crazy part is I was in one of the backrows. The trucks parked closest to me were 2-3 spots over on either side. But the rows at this Petro are so close together that if you don’t constantly keep your head on a swivel you’ll more than likely hit something.
Jesus! So did he get away with it? I've only parked at a big truck stop once. It was a Road Ranger. I go for hole in the wall places, or I try to sleep at the receiver. I know not everyone has that option.
Still,it’s a 2 month old truck and any incidents/accidents have to be reported so Risk Management can pull the dashcam footage. Not crazy about it, but it has to be done. Same thing happened to me nine months ago in my previous truck. Someone was in too much of a hurry to pack into a parking spot, and again hit my passenger side mirror, this time at the Loves in Brigham City,Utah. And that was in broad daylight, and in that case a chunk of the mirror housing was broken.
This us why I get so irritated when I see guy sliding the tandems all the way forward when they get empty... If you need them there for weigjt distribution fine... But if you dont, then put them half way to the rear. If they taught this it would save alot of this from happening.
