I spent nearly 6 hours at Igloo in Katy TX when I was finally given the okay that I was loaded and ready to go. So I pulled around to the other side of the building. Walked in, waited, and finally got my paperwork. Went back to the truck and put the seal on. Got into the truck and started writing down some info off the bills so I could send my leaving macro. I was just about to hit the send button when I thought "Let's check that delivery address one more time just to be sure."

So I looked on the bills. Load destination: Walmart in Oregon.

...Oregon? I'm supposed to be going to North Carolina! They must have given me the wrong BoL.

So I went back inside and pointed out that the load destination was wrong and also the listed carrier on the BoL was incorrect. The guy in the office double checked things and found out he mixed up two numbers and they loaded me with the wrong product, which in turn was going to the wrong location.

So I had to go back around to a dock and they had to off load the trailer (none of the product is on pallets by the way) and then reload it with the correct products.

Now you know, when your company asks you to double check the delivery address on your BoL, it's to prevent something like this from happening. Luckily for me I checked it while I was still at the shipper instead of hundreds of miles down the road.

Yes. Just a few seconds of checking will prevent the major headache later. I make it my duty to check the BOL. Wouldn't want that oops! to ever happen to me.

The driver has to make sure the load is correct as soon as you check in and out, even with a appointment number or referece number, things can go south. You just saved yourself a big headache...thanks for reminding us to take time and double check the shipper.

I've had it happen a couple times, when the address was different than what I was given in my load assignment.

Not that bad, though. Mine were going to the right places, but the addresses were either mis-typed by Swift or it was the same location but the shipper/consignee used an address that was on an adjacent road.

I too make it a point to check the address every time.
The loaded-call macro even has a checkbox for 'dest on bills matches dispatch', so that is a reminder every time.

The real question is why didn't you check them when you signed them at the shipping office? That's why you sign them, it's your confrimation that every thing is in agreement - consignee, seal, trailer, shipper, carrier, who loaded and who counted.
