    A driver from a local freight company hooked up to a set of super b train flat deck trailers and drove 100 miles to pick up a load of 4" steel balls. He then drove the 100 miles back to the shop on a busy highway which is mostly flat with one long steep grade. He got home and was braking to turn into the yard when the trailer came unhooked and dropped and the landing gear folded and the steel balls on the front trailer went bouncing down the street for the better part of a mile. I bet that would not have happened had he done a tug test.
    It was a project for them to pick them all back up and load them again.

    I agree, sounds like a 5th wheel malfunction. Unless you "high hook" the pin, you won't make it 5 feet if it's not hooked.
