This one messed up my Friday.

Sort of looks like it ruined the whole day for the kid that was killed, as well.

 

Too many fires after accidents.

 

One commenter on this article, unless I mistook what they meant, said she was passing by the truck when an explosion was heard and the blast swung the tail of the trailer almost into her lane, and also caused her to have problems staying in her lane. If this comment is legit, she is an eye witness to what happened, and maybe it was not the truck drivers fault.

Then Sunday morning another crash in that area involving a disabled tractor trailer on the shoulder on the eastbound side of 40. They have a lot of wrecks in that area for some reason or the other. Thats also the general area where the TN State Trooper got killed and also where those D.O.T. workers got killed. That stretch of 40 between Dickson and the river bridge is a hazardous area to drive in.

Interesting comment for sure. I wonder whether the explosion was a tire blow out? They can be surprisingly powerful. It would explain the swerving, especially if it was a steer tire.

 

I was headed that direction yesterday.

Noticed there was a decent backup (still?, figured it happened yesterday)
So I made a small detour.

 

Here is the comment from the lady on the one news article.

"I was the SUV driving along side of the truck at the time of the explosion. The blast was so strong that it pushed my vehicle almost off the highway. I thought the truck hit me, the force was that strong.I was able to pass the cab just as the trail swerved into my lane It was clear that the explosion .
. I just want everyone to know this was NOT the fault of the driver
He did nothing wrong
Something exploded on this truck .
I'm so sorry for the loss of his life and for any others hurt by this accident .
Had I been just 3 ft further back from where I was in feel very sure I would not be here to give this information."

I certainly hope they were able to interview her.

 

And this wreck just happened within one or two days of the other wreck.

Prayers for the family of those who lost their life.

 

Evidentally so, it was a different link on the same page as the OP page. OPs happened Friday, they finally got it reopened Saturday Morning, then this one happened Sunday and closed down the other side? Its only 20 miles from Dickson to the River Bridge but a lot of people get killed in that 20 mile stretch.
