I would stay away from cypress. I do not know about CT. I think mcelroy would be the one I would look at. I have heard howard is decent.

Ok Bean, been awhile but here was what I found out... cypress is a joke, McElroy had a freeze on NC hiring, Grayson had a new driver freeze as well as Boyd. Apply with all but I know Howard is still hiring, and try WTI (is a boyd subsid). TWT is still hiring like crazy. I've been quitting for 8 months now and I'm still here! Is not so bad and $ is decent to be home so much.

What's up frawg! It has been a while, glad to hear from you again. Basiclly what you said is kinda the consensus I've been getting. I'm working on getting into the class that starts May 2, so hopefully some of these freezes will lift by then.

Apparently they were, Redd. Just looked 'em up, and their website has info for company drivers. Thanks for the heads-up though.

Hey beancounter, noticed you're in Hope Mills. What school are you planning to attend? I'm in school now at JCC and definitely considering the flatbed route. Howard is one of the companies I would like to apply with and was also thinking about Maverick. Any particular reason why you are excluding Maverick? Any advice from you fine folks on this forum is greatly appreciated. I'm new to this sight and amazed at the wealth of information available here. Thanks

Mavericks otr div doesn't hire east of charlotte. They have a glass div out of laurinburg and have heard pretty good stuff but say you'll be out 2 weeks. Class 527 jcc grad. Tell the instructors that their twt students say hi. (About half our terminal are grads.)

    NatureBoy Thanks this.

Thanks camo. I think I'll send Maverick glass div an app just to have more available opportunities. Howard is my first choice, but I haven't ruled out tankers yet. How do you like TWT? Will convey the "howdy" to the guys. Take care.

This post is a little OLD - http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...mpany-here/113009-my-2-1-2-years-mcelroy.html

But, it may give you some insight. It doesn't surprise me that McElroy has a hiring freeze in NC in the month of January because this is the typical "slow season" for flatbed work and McElroy has a terminal in NC. Having said that, I would not be employed and working today LOCALLY in a flatbed for Bluelinx were it not for my experience with McElroy, and for that I will ALWAYS be grateful.

    My 2 Cents.
