I've just finished CDL school and am waiting to take my state exam, I recently applied to Roehl and something odd happened. I filled out the application through the Driver's Pulse app and received a call from the recruiter just to go over my details.
The phone call went well and he asked some basic questions to just confirm what I put on the application.
Less than two days go by and I get an email telling me no thanks we don't want you.
No background check, my MVR is spotless and I have no idea what happened.
Has anyone else gone through this?
    Thanks.

Chinatown, Lonesome and austinmike Thank this.

    No, nothing unusual.

If you don't have a CDL yet....very few (if any) will want you.

Hold off on those job applications -- until you get that CDL in hand.

Which town do you live in? We'll help you find a job. Any endorsements on your CDL?

Thanks, I live near Pittsburgh, Pa. When I get my CDL, I'll have Double/Triples, Tanker & Hazmat.
I realize that as a new driver my opportunities are very limited. I'm also looking at here in Western Pa, we have a large natural gas industry and they have a need for water truck drivers.
I was just surprised at how fast Roehl turned me down. They knew from the very beginning that I was still a student, they called this process "pre-hire".
that way when I do get my license, I can have all the paperwork taken care of and hit the ground running, so to speak.

    Lonesome and Chinatown Thank this.

Roehl has several of their own in-house cdl schools, so those students go to the top of the hiring list.

This company also has tankers. Tankers requires 12 mos. driving experience. Maybe switch over to tankers later if you want.
HAZMAT & Cryogenic Tanker Drivers - PGT Trucking

Candidates should have Tanker and HAZMAT endorsements with at least one year of tractor-trailer driving experience. Southern Pines will provide the necessary training for drivers to safely operate and haul all cryogenic products.
