My best week in trucking, I made a mint...but it also entailed teaming, and being on the west coast all week away from the house.
I will gladly settle for a percentage of that best week and being home every day. That record may never be beat, but my lifestyle is where I want it.dwells40, buddyd157 and Hazmat Cat Thank this. -

At some point in our lives, most of us have to step up to the plate to make sure our family is taken care of and the bills get paid. I give you credit for getting the job done and working your tail off.
During the depression, my grandfather worked any job he could find to make a few bucks. He was a coal miner, worked in a steel mill, played on the mill's industrial league basketball team which he said made tackle football look tame. He ran booze in a fast car at night never getting caught, and was a dealer in an illegal gambling hall in Cleveland. All of that work taught him to save, and when he died at age 87, he had a home that was paid for, and almost a half million in the bank. He also never had a credit card, and other than his mortgage, he never had a loan. Cash was king. His father was the same way. Fell off a roof repairing a leak at age 94. The fall didn't kill him, it was the salve his sister made that had turpentine in it, and that burned his kidneys out when she rubbed it on his back.Truckermania and EuropeanTrucker Thank this.
