I do run another business in which i earn about 3,500 a month and i want to expand my business, need some money to do so as loans are tough these days. I just need a couple days in the weekday to be home. I wish there was a way i could just work 15 days in the month and make like $1500-2000 just working part time. Im not looking to get into this full time because it would take me away from my other obligations. I actually want to make a few extra dollars because a) I do like to drive on the road and b) it would help me make some money to support the expansion in my business. I really don't need a lot of money, just an extra 1 or 2000 part time to hold me over. I used to take a lot of road trips and not get paid for it, so why not get paid for it? Or like I said if there were more local driving available, that could work. I just don't really know what to shoot for. Even though everyone keeps saying it's not for me, what if it is? It's not that I don't have commitment, it's just that I have other priorities and can't see myself realistically doing this full time UNLESS i hired someone to run my business for me.
This would be my ideal driving job

Julian, I realize I may have been harsh in my earlier post. I apologize. Every week here on TTR we read multiple posts from drivers feed up and getting out. When you read the post you realize if they would have done some research, they would have avoided trucking or at least known to expect what has them angry.
I am a big believer of the Great American Dream and do not wish to discourage you from pursuing yours. I have tryed to answer many of your posts with what little knowledge I can share, so that you don't misunderstand my earlier post.
If I were you and could be out a week and home a week and that fit my goal, I would target Schneider. Did you check their website? You could probably make about $20,000 and be home every other week. If that fits your need, I think sometimes they do put new drivers on these type of runs. They operate these with two drivers for the same truck. While one is home the other is on the road.
I forget while something like this is absurd to me, it can be a perfect fit for someone else. Good luck! -
Awesome. I will look into it. It doesn't hurt just to look. I don't want to get into something i regret. But i will look into Sneider. I also looked into massage career a while ago, but i find driving more enjoyable. I guess it doesn't hurt to look.

Trucking is nothing like Road Trips, you are resposible for your safety, other peoples safety, cargo, equipement and bunch of paperwork. On top of that you will get stuck at a shipper or receiver waiting for hours. Many people think trucking is a great job because you get to drive all day(how hard can it be). They dont see the side when you finish the day, you dont get to go home to your family.

There are several companies that offer 7 on 7 off schedules. Transport America offered that when I was there. Roehl does also. Roehl also offers 7/3 and 7/4 that might be a little more work than you want but of course you make more than a 7/7 shift.
