Talking about LS. Check their earnings per share on Scottrade. Earnings, .70 cents per share. Price per share, 57.94. They are a money making machine. To compare, General Electric earns only .39 cents per share for it's size.
Last couple times i was in baltimore MD i DH 400 Miles home! very bad area! unless u got capital connections...
I can not believe you guys have trouble getting out out MD. I can get $3 plus a mile all day long out of there with a flat and a freind with a van is getting $2.25 plus. Granted where heading back to New england, NY and PA.
I used to unload in fl KY. then deadhead to jeffersonville in to reload out of voss clark. alway's go good rates, but that was years ago.
Sometimes it is the opposite. I have a older truck & trailer. I do not move from home unless the rate is good going out. if the rate coming back home is not good. I never sit for more than 1 day. if no good rate then, I move, empty. you are NOT going to get me to take a load just cause I have been sitting & need to get home. I Do NOT NEED THE MONEY. everything I have is paid for. I am not trying to be sarcastic, but I see more hoods, with huge payments taking the low dollar freight to keep moving, even if just to cover fuel, hoping they can hang on before their payment come due. the reason I don't need the money,is cause I started frugal, with equip I paid for upfront. I turn down more cheap freight by far than any of the 20-30 haulers I run the same lanes with. they will kiss butt to haul for $1.50 a mile, sometimes I think they would pay the shipper or receiver just to move. so to me & my old junk, have no incentive to move if not paid a decent rate. though by the way, I do o.k. holding to my principles.
I just took a look and RBHT is correct, there are plenty of loads coming out of Baltimore paying $2.50+ on the boards for a 48' flat.
Never have trouble getting out of Baltimore with my RGN for good money. Once I went up to the NE with a 55k lb drill, but mostly it is back to the Midwest/NorthWest with Cat machinery from Dundalk terminal. I will also not take cheap stuff, as all my stuff is paid for too, and I will DH before becoming part of the problem of cheap freight haulers. Hell, OD loads get cheap at times from the west coast, thus I bounce out of there if need be. Martin
