I was talking about companies. Some don't seem to realize we can look THEM up. The company that was advertising everything you could ever want, happens to have a 93.7 HOS score, and a 97.2 vehicle main score. They act like they have no problems

Of course they act like they don't have a problem externally. Whatever their score is they need to still run a business while they can. The real question is will/can they change?

Today I was looking into leasing on with a company and one of the first things they asked was what my CSA was. Then they asked if i had a valid CDL and how my MVR was. I guess some companies are taking the CSA seriously and others are not

I'm so dissapointed...I was looking forward to an early retirement because all of the steeringwheelholders have been telling me that CSA was gonna get guys like me "OFF THE ROAD!"
You know, Guy's with knowledge and experience and good driving/saftey records that don't drive for 22 cents a mile or need a wheelchair to get from the truck to the buffet line because we get so winded getting our 500 pound 30 year old ### out of the truck.

We're what's wrong with the industry you know....And all of those steeringwheelholders are here to save the industry from us.:biggrin_25518:

I was at the Mid-West Truck show and talked with a group of company owners that have been at meetings with the larger trucking companies regarding CSA. What they all believe is that companies that have been doing training will step-up this effort because they will be cutting drivers with less than a year experience at the first driver violation. No probation or retraining. And if a driver can't get the hang of logs they will be cutting them sooner than they have in the past.

Companies with no training programs are in a holding pattern to see how this plays out. They all know that if they have issues they have time to show they are getting their house in order. And likely the first step is cutting drivers with issues on the record.

End of the day this is expected to cause a driver shortage moving into 2012.

What is safe to say is if you work for a company that doesn't care about equipment then make a switch fast. Because some drivers are going to become toxic regardless of the reason.

I already know of 2 companies that have changed their names and info to get the lower numbers and get off the radar.

I hate being the "guy" that complains about how it seems to be the drivers that get the focus on all the safety issues. But when you see things like this happening and you know that it would be easy for them to monitor it you wonder why bother.

It is like all the changes of HOS and monitoring proposals and no focus on shipper/receiver practices. If you believe that safety can be better then work on it from the complete picture.

There is good and bad in all groups - drivers, shippers, receivers, companies - but it seems that most of the focus is on the driver to fix it. And coming from someone that runs safe and legal, a lot is out of my hands.

Ok, thats my rant while I sit here with too much time on my hands.

There is a problem with that mentality...a new MC/DOT number will get a higher amount of "initial" scrutiny for a minimum of 18 months.

Maybe it will. Maybe it will not.

They kept the old business info on record to a smaller part they spun off. The new is nothing more than a new start up with a new name.

I imagine they will achieve the end result of not having a problem like they were.

I guess it would depend on if they will "work" the "new" as a legitimate side and maintain all that should be done between drivers and maintenance. I will guess that the "bad, lazy habits" of old will be hard to pull away from.

Doing things the right way from day 1 and setting up the protocols of "correctness" are hard to "change into"!
