Thats nothing compared to what I went through working for a moving company.

Takes 5 days to move out a single family house, doing it the correct way. Takes about 2 days to move a house in. Wrapping everything with paper and making boxes, wrapping every piece of furniture and loading everything into a 53 foot trailer. ***hole company only gave me 1 helper instead of 2. Moving grand pianos and heavy pieces of furniture injured my lower back. I could of taken the heavy pieces apart but I just leave the clothes inside a dresser or armoire. A chinese armoire that weighs 500lbs, moved from the 3d floor to the trailer outside was no biggie, all I had to do was build a ramp and slide them.

Id do it all over again but 10 hours of heavy physical labor (wrote it as off duty) and drive 11 hours at night at the 5th day was just too much.

5 days to load a single family home onto just 1 trailer?! Only way that is possible is if it was just 2 guys to do all the packing on top of the loading and it was around 27 or 28 thousand pounds worth. And if if was that amount, 4 guys need to be doing that. More depending on the length of the carry to the truck

That $200 means they can get someone other than I to unload that trailer.

I was fast and so was my helper. If I had a good move, trailer parked on the street, not too long of a drive way, customer is ready for the move then the setup for the move is good. I always planned the move according to what type of house they are moving in. We start packing the basement but not load it, pack the room or entry of the house and load it, then work the rest of the house. When enough boxes or wrapped furniture has accumulated in a room, then ill clean it up by loading it.

My rule was that for everytime we went outside to load, we would bring packing materials inside to make things easier.

Plus moving in was simple. 100% of the time, customer doesn't want stuff to get unpacked. If they do, my helper will unpack and ill bring more boxes and furniture faster than he can unpack, making the new house look like a hoarders house. When this happens, the customers get stressed and tell us that we are done. So going home or back to the hotel and count the money.

Unless you make an effort to stay in shape, truck driving of any kind is horrible for your health. At the Fly-J today and a bull hauler pulled up after fueling. The driver climbed down from the cab and he was every bit of 450lb+. He stopped twice to catch his breath in what was only a 30 yard walk to the fuel counter. He was maybe 35-40 years old. Unless things change he wont see 2017. Same goes for a lot of drivers.

Yeah you couldn't pay me enough to do this kind of slave labor. I did LTL furniture drops up in New England with a longbox and sleeper tractor for a few months at my first driving gig and I thought *that* was bad wrestling sofas and cased goods off the back of a semi trailer at all these mom and pop furniture stores and Rent-a-Center locations...onto the ground in many cases. (If anybody had a dock that was like a slam dunk). Hey at least that payed $20 a stop and sometimes the stops were 10-15 minutes if it was an easy one.
