I've been using an oil-less k&n with my 2014 Volvo D16 since pretty much new. With 480k miles on it now, any oil samples Ive done have all come back good. The truck has always had a dusty job and its nice to be able to it clean out regularly. In my opinion its worth It, it has paid for itself by not having to buy multiple oem ones in addition to any minimal performance/fuel economy gains

Freightliner told my buddy the winter time not to use k&n because it doesn't stop fine particles of snow and when you shut it down the water refreeze and it took out the fins in the turbo.

Highly doubt you'll see 1 mpg increase with free flow air filters.
