First truck I ever looked at was a 2000 Volvo with the 12.7. it needed a rebuild and I wasn't prepared for that at that time. It was white just like they all seem to be when I see them hahaha.Rideandrepair, Tug Toy and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

Once you've had the famous FLD 120, nothing else compares.
Once you have a simple truck without all the garbage and expensive crapola, nothing else compares.
Nothing can compare to my Freightliner.
That's why you would go to the expense of buying a brand new engine from Cummins.
Nothing like a simple truck that is very inexpensive and easy to get parts for.W Bench Farms, Opendeckin, 201 and 3 others Thank this. -
Yeah it truly is a no frills truck. No tech. Very limited electronics. Rides great. Tons of parts available. I will probably keep it for however long this is my career.Opendeckin, Dino soar, Rideandrepair and 1 other person Thank this.

Thats why im starting to love my lonestar. Aside from the near inescapable emissions and a few exclusive lonestar parts everything is compatable with a prostar and easily swapable for pretty cheap doubly so if i grab used parts. If i could somehow get a lonestar with a cat in it. I think id hang onto that truck till i hung it up.
May still pay to have someone figure out how to put a kitty in this one depending on how the next couple years shake out though ive been eyeballing the HX620s...... Keep my 3.55s swap the 13 for an 18, ploink in a C15 and swap the cheap plastic chrome for real chrome and throw a good paint job at it and i can see this rig lasting till i retire.
Always wanted a 359 though and may still snatch one up if i see one pop up in a couple years when this one is paid off that someone put a e model into.Dino soar, Rideandrepair and Tug Toy Thank this. -
Always dreamed of a 359, love those trucks. I can honestly at this point say if I get rid of my 379 with a c15 and 18spd I am either out of trucking or got a 359 that I had enough time to fix what I wanted on it!Sons Hero, Rideandrepair and Kruse Family Farms Thank this.

If I'm being honest you could park a 359, 379 and 389 side by side and I wouldn't be able to tell them apart.
Numb, Rideandrepair and Kruse Family Farms Thank this. -
A lot of it is in the hood. The grille, the shape of the sleeper and the cab. But my want for a 359 is more the simplicity of working on one and the interior. The dash on them looks like something out of a scifi movie or a steam punk book depending on your PoV. More of a pie in the sky truck then anything practical. If you handed me a check for any semi i wanted. But i had to make 100% of my income off it as it sat or i would starve to death. Id be torn between an HX620 with a 550 X15 18 and 3.72s or a HX620 with the S13 under the hood. MAYBE a western starOpendeckin, Rideandrepair and Kruse Family Farms Thank this.

Glad I'm not the only one! Ha! I never really cared cause they cost to much. I knew I would never buy one so I never took an interest really. Don't get me wrong they can look cool. But I don't own a show truck and I never will. I do a lot of off road and sometimes remote deliveries. My truck is well cared for but often covered in dirt and mud. Have to balance reliability and over the top cost. Aren't 20 year old Pete's like 80-100k?Dino soar and Rideandrepair Thank this.

I rented a Penske once when I blew the engine on my 99 Classic. It was horrific. Delivered on the gulf coast, Swore I’d quit Trucking before driving one. Guess what I’m doing now? Yep, quitting is in the plan. Just not yet.
Numb and Kruse Family Farms Thank this.
