It is an absolutely terrible driving experience. It honestly feels like a cheap pickup truck that has been beat to death. A couple other positives I found. These head lights are decent, I think they are after market replacements. Disc brakes really have great stopping power! I actually have new found respect for the local drivers who have to drive these horrible day cabs every single day I would quit.

If I had a W900 it would definitely get a replacement engine. I have always really liked those. I believe when I was first starting I looked at one with the studio sleeper if I remember right. Coolest truck I looked at hands down. It was over my starting budget though.

An old pre emission engine and a neutered rental truck are at the extreme opposite sides of the spectrum. For a closer comparison you’d have to drive a 565/1850 X15 or even the 605/2050, but that still wouldn’t be as snappy as your old engine. However the current round of emission engines are light years away from how things were around 2010.

Yeah I maybe should have titled it differently or explained better but I mostly was surprised that I liked anything that this rental had to offer. Some of the newer stuff is really good. Disc brakes are incredible compared to drum. The A26 even governored to the moon and back seems to pull pretty good. I like the engine brake activating when I brake. Hell I even appreciate the engine brake muffler so I can use it in town. My biggest take away is how absolutely annoyed I am by DEF and having to manage that and fill it up and pick a station that has the actual DEF pumps etc etc. Something I have never had to do on any diesel I have owned. My second biggest take away is how shockingly horrible these day cabs are to drive. I feel bad for LTL and daily local drivers. These things suck. Third biggest is probably how horrible the mileage is on this A26. I have seen and heard the promotional stuff about GREAT FUEL EFFICIENCY. It does worse than my N14. Pulling all the same loads in all the same conditions.

I reckon the only good International trucks were the 1998 International 9400 Eagle with 460Hp N-14 Cummins and 15 Speed Fuller Transmissions like this one off ice road truckers ( hughs truck)

But I used to drive an old Kenworth T404 and it had a Cummins ISX 475hp and it had a real bad problem of the engine overheating and it used to have the trucks overheating buzzer going off when you tried to shut the truck down but the Cummins Engines are very good for heavy haulage if there over 500hp but I like them all the same ( not as good as the ol' CAT C15)

Don't be so sure, I don't know if you do FB Marketplace, but a slew of Kenworths are coming up for grabs. Seems many of the owners are retiring, and selling their treasured "old Nelly Belle". It seems the Heartland or the PNW has the most KWs, and most are in the $20-$35,000 range. Not only a classy well built ride, you have a shred of resale with a KWhopper.

Haven't had Facebook in probably almost ten years. I won't be getting rid of the classic now unless I quit the business. I already just put all new suspension, king pins, wheel seals, tires, brakes and drums. So it should be really good for awhile. Just have a few little projects here and there I want to do on it. Someday I will spruce up the interior a bit. It is showing some age.
