I know these posts get over done. I apologize for that. but
I am trying to consider a few options and thought you guys might shed some light on things I may not realize or know about with these choices.
Talked to Schneider last night. they have openings in my area (WI) otherwise there is Roehl and finally Millis.
I would consider Henderson but don't really want to have to change my CDL to WI after getting it and sounds like (by some posts here) they may be having trouble getting folks onto trainers trucks.
so the scoop.
Old fart here. good physical shape, financially secure, college grad, veteran, clean criminal and driving record, live in the country so truck parking not an issue, no kids at home but still like to hang with friends now and then so home every week or two would be good. and as above I live in southeast WI s omany co hire this area.
currently working in engineering so this will be a big change no matter which way I go.
My current thought is co training with Schneider, Roehl or Millis.
Schneider would either be tank or van
MIllis and Roehl would be van
I have talked to Millis previously and Schneider last night and Roehl previously. all three sound ok to me.
so thoughts? what benefit is there to one over the other? what drawbacks? who is getting miles?
Schneider said no cameras and never will have driver facing cams. they have forward facing. they are going to autos in the near future but currently have mostly super 10's
thoughts on these?

You work in engineering? Why would you want to drive a tractor trailer?

because it isn't all it's cracked up to be. Plus I grew up always telling people I would be a driver when I was old enough.
Joined the Army for Artillery and wound up being the driver there.
got out drove a little. loved it just as much as I thought I would.
It's hard to explain to people but some people are just not cut out for this deal.
It's been a fun run, I have designed systems for Nuke subs, Fighter jets, power gen systems and many other things but now it's time to go do the things in life I want to do.
engineering was never a dream of mine, I just kind of landed here and stayed for a while.spindrift, FullMetalJacket, scottlav46 and 6 others Thank this. -

You should be fine, Avenger. You've been around enough to know how the learning curve works. Truck driving is just like any other profession or line of enterprise, some good, some not so good, some actually not good at all. Best to you.
