Thousands sign online petition asking FCC to shut down Mud Duck

A couple of problems with this:

1. This would require everyone to get newer radios that could do CTCSS and FM. I know that FM is now allowed on CB but I'm pretty sure most of us will be dead and gone before you see it becoming the de facto standard mode for Ch. 19.

2. A CTCSS/PL tone would make it very easy to squelch him out but it'll still be hard to talk over top of him as strong as his signal is at times. FM capture effect would help us with this but not always.

3. There's absolutely nothing to keep him from getting his own radio capable of FM and CTCSS and setting his tone to the same one we are all using.

At the end of the day it sounds like a duck tape solution when the real solution would be for the FCC to do their freakin' jobs.

If they're unwilling to shut him down they could at least send him a sternly worded letter telling him to stay off 19 with all that garbage.

 

Actually more than a couple of problems. I was just trying to lighten the mood on such a serious thread.

 

This is no time for joking, sir. calibrated test equipment is serious business.

 

By the way...No need to sell your strykers...They to are set up for ctcss,you just gotta buy the board for a v1and most of the strykers are already fm capable...
Not sure but i think i saw a vid that on the v2 955 that ctcss board is built in.....

How do they find people?

 

Directional antennas.

 

Problem is there's a bunch of them out there. They're all the same. First clue is if they start with "breaker 19". Truckers don't do that anymore.

 

SAFE to say you aint a trucker then..Fyi it still gets said by "truckers" alot..
