I too grew up on welfare, but let me tell you how it went for us. Mom applied for food stamps and I heard them tell my mom that they would only give her $25/month because she refused to quit her part time job. They promised more than what her current job could pay her if she quit. Mom refused again, “Why should I quit my job? I have no intention of living like this all my life!”

Her husband left her. She did nothing wrong, yet was punished for trying to be responsible. So when I hear someone say “Democrat,” followed by “I,I,I,” and then suddenly, “WE,” that usually means that someone who chooses to be irresponsible want ME to pay for their bad choices.

Abortion. I don’t have a dog in that fight. I sure as Hell shouldn’t have to pay for it. Two people were involved, those two should have to pay for it.

Gender issues. Not my fault, not my problem. You do you according to how deep your pockets are.

Woman with 17 kids. None of them are mine. When she first made the news, she had 11. They give her housing and money and she has 6 more kids. When her kids grow up, they will realize how generous you are and they will all have 10 kids each.
Just as I mentioned about Sally Struthers, throwing money at irresponsible people is rewarding irresponsibility and punishing the responsible, hence encouraging others to be irresponsible too. Any of you that thinks that’s a good idea can send their paychecks over to @Dave_in_AZ so that he can hire serving staff for his cats and buy jeweled collars for the felines to insure they live the life they deserve.

And yes, Triple Six, your story is similar to mine, except with a father present, (and sober,)
who had a trade, was a craftsman who worked two jobs, and still had to struggle all his life.
This was the 50's and 60's, the boom times; "Good old days," some say.
We had enough, but not much more.
One thing I did get instilled in me from watching this was a sense of honor in a days toil,
and being responsible for your actions.
Sorely missing in many.

I’m not sure what to say.....

When I did apply for assistance they took my children’s assets in to consideration.

I think abortions are privately paid and agree they should be.

The republicans throw money at irresponsible people all the time too.

It’s time for responsible people stand up for what is right.

Stop telling me what to do.

Help others in need ( I never give money to beggars). I give food if they will take it.

 

Please tell me what is acceptable so I may know.

 

All you men see things you want. I see a demented person that STABBED four women. This person was hired by a BIG corporate company. The person had priors and still hired. WHY?

Why is it that I worry every day that I may have a light out or that I may get pulled over for speeding when others are so irresponsible in every other way. I am a good, some what upstanding person. What the heck is wrong !!!! Why are we so divided!!!!???

 

You do know the original intent of this good ol' USA was for the farmer, or store-keep, or rancher,
to go to Washington to do service to the country, and return to their homes and lives, correct?
A noble concept.

What do we see today?
Career politicians, with gold plated healthcare, (also paid for by YOU,) who have passed, (for themselves,)
exceptions to laws against insider trading, making most very wealthy, and leaving YOU behind.

The two party system could not agree on if it were day or night, so nothing gets done.
Recent "Bail - out" bill as an example; filled with special interest "Bail - ins." WHY?

You do know that lump sum of money earmarked for XYZ never gets there in it's entirety, correct?
This is where the kickbacks and behind the back hand-offs of monies occurs.
Perhaps a "RETURN TO THE RULE OF LAW" is in order?

I was an independent until trump got into office. I do NOT like Biden. So......

I understand the reasons people voted for him, but I’m old enough to see what he has done ( I did not watch his television show). I know how many times he filed for bankruptcy I know what a bad person he is. He is just no better than any other politician out there. At least Jimmy Carter cared enough to try and get us off of foreign oil, but it was an inconvenience. I was very young so I didn’t feel the impact, other than having no food on the table.

I agree there needs to be a change. But until the American people come together we can’t do it.
