I was driving down a highway and my pedal stop working.i have a n14 cummings in a 98 peterbuilt.put it on a computer and told I needed a new throttle sensor so I replaced it and still the same problem.the sensor has two bolts that bolt it to the pedal, but if I remove the bolts and turn the sensor counterclockwise the engine will throttle up like it is surpossed to but when I press the pedal I got nothing,I am just wondering if the pedal itself can go bad

I don't know anything about drive by wire pedals, but I suppose it could have a rheostat sort of affair that the sensor reads?
-
I am still not sure if it has to be recalubrated r not because it it a new sensor
-
To check the pedal operation just remove the sensor and make sure the tab that operates the sensor moves when you push the pedal down. Assuming the sensor is mounted properly and making good connection at the plug I'm not sure what else there could be
-
That sensor is just a potentiometer to the best of my knowledge there is no calibration that can be done
-
Sounds like the tab that the pedal actually turns has broken. If it's revving when you do it manually that has to be the problem. It's CUMMINS there is no such thing as a Cummings
Slowpoke KW Thanks this. -
It's in a Peterb(u)ilt, that's why!Slowpoke KW, SAR and Oxbow Thank this.
-
Oh yeah that's what I was missing
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Yes, the Pedal can get "play" in it and the Sensor can not read it properly.
I would replace the Pedal and your problem will be solved.
Some Truck Manufactures sell the Pedal with a new Sensor included with it too.Oxbow Thanks this.
