Hello there, I am interested in becoming a trucker. Quick question though, I was in a car accident 3 yrs ago but was 50/50 on who's fault it was, and had 3 or 4 speeding tickets but was mostly when I was a teenager and had 2/3 speeding tickets but has been about 3yrs now I believe. Would this cause an issue to getting hired by a company?

    Thanks

this may very well depend on when your state "drops off" the tickets and accidents.....

for instance, some states "drop off" just after a 3 year period of time. some states "drop off" after a 5 year period of time.....now these things "drop off" only from that period of time, but will ALWAYS BE on your permanent driving record. so if say for instance YOUR state things stay on 5 years, and you fill out any job applications, they WILL ASK questions like these,

"have you had any accidents with-in the past 5 years".??

"Have you had any tickets (except for parking) in the past 5 years".??

as far as the accident where you claim it was 50/50 for responsibility,, that don't matter, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT......!!!!

so you have to tell us how long things stay on your record.......you MUST BE EXACT with your time line of these tickets......and accidents. either 3 years or 5 years.......EVERYTHING STAYS ON IT...for that period of time.

now YES, speeding is A BIG DEAL.....car , motorbike, truck.......it's STILL SPEEDING and how many you have gotten will pretty much tell the trucking companies you are a HIGH RISK.....

you NEED to clean up your act, if you want ANY future in trucking....and you had BETTER STAY STRAIGHT for a long career as well....

    Call Swift.

They'll train you. Hire you. And you will never have to worry about a speeding ticket at 60 mph
