Right kenworth I don't have my CDL yet and ticket/incident was almost two years ago and I'm 38, not a teener. I called a couple of trucking companies locally and thier "safety officers" both said it wouldn't be an issue but hey talk is cheap. I've got my driving record from MI which was clean and that puts a good history back for over 7 years and only one sliding stop sign ticket then -- violation not withstanding. So I hope this establishes a good history overall so I can hit the road runn'n after class?!

Let us know what happens. The insurance co's might not like it since you're older and it's recent. The recruiter might not have anything to say about it.

If you got it in your car, it probably won't matter much - provided you didn't have a CDL-A at the time.

I got a following too close citation last November. Could have pled it to any number of lesser charges, but for personal reasons, did not.

Didn't keep me from CDL-A school

Didn't keep me from getting a job with a decent company. I *could* have landed a job at one of the newbie-eaters, but was accepted at several companies with lesser appetites. Including locally - belly dump outfit and a tanker outfit.

So, ONE FTC in the past few years, with no other violations on a NON CDL license should be meaningless, for all intents and purposes.

Of course, if you had a CDL at the time of the infraction.. well. Get a lawyer, as TruckerJo intimated

Good advice.....always get someone to represent you no matter what...especially if it's something arbitrary....and get it reduced.

Thx Lurch your situation mirrors mine and no I didn't have a CDL at the time and it's been almost 2 years now.

Glad to hear it went smooth for ya!! I hope to go OTR cus I have school debt (previous college) that I want
to get that out of the way and stash serious green.

Well it's been a month and a half and I wanted to follow-up on my original post about getting hired even though I had a follow-too-close ticket.

I obtained my CDL and I've been assigned a trainer with May and also had a pre-hire with Crete so from my own experience on moving violation(s) on your license is it/they will be reviewed by each company and since my ticket was only 5 MPH at a stop sign and that's all I had on my license for the past 6 years, it wasn't an issue to any company I applied to.

Just treat your license like gold cus that's really what it is after you obtain your CDL!

The fact that you had a "tailgaiting" violation implies you're not familiar with the trick to beating any ticket. When an officer cites you, don't give him a clue that you intend to fight your ticket. Show up in court before your court date, and ask the clerk if you have the option of moving your trial date. If the clerk says "yes," move the trial date as far ahead as you can. Your 1st court appearance is your arraignment, and you tell the judge you're pleading "not guilty." The judge will give you a court date, or you may have to see the clerk to schedule a court date. If the clerk gives you options, get the date that's as far into the future as you can. About 3 weeks before your court date, show up again and ask the clerk if you can move your date further ahead. The objection is to get as much time frame distance between your violation date, and your trial date when the officer will show up and give testimony against you. If too much time had passed, it's not unusual for the officer to say "your honor, I pull over so many motorist and issue so many tickets, that I don't recollect this particular case." The judge will dismiss your citation if the officer says this. If the officer fails to show up on your trial date, the judge will also dismiss your citation.

Give me a break. This accident was so unusual the officer would have definately remembered it. The guy that stopped 10 feet in front of me was arrested by the same officer 2 days prior for some petty offense but she recognized him immediately so I know she would remember his name on the ticket months later but I do know what you're saying about memory fades etc.

I also note there are alot of "ifs" in your message like "if you can schedule later" and "if the clerk says yes"!!

Also Casa Grande is a small town so it's not like officers are busy and don't show up for court dates especially when it's a part of the city budget to get that money!!

I wish the cops would crack down on the drivers that ride my ### in my car, I commute about 67 miles each way to work and drive a very small car. I see cops doing it. If I had to slam on my brakes I would be crushed. So please keep it in mind drivers!
