Speed limiters won't ever replace your abilities to control your own speed, for all the variables encountered.
Nope, no lack of equipment caused this pileup... only lack of proper 'thinking equipment'.

As for running in packs,, it's always more detrimental to run closely or in packs, but as you can see in the Post #3 video, most of those were running solo...
THEN piled right into the mess.

Proper safe speed for conditions is primary, as well as alertness. But even when you run at a proper/safe speed, it doesn't guarantee any safety if the morons behind you don't apply the same actions, alertness, and thought processes.

Some guys were late. Some didn't pay attebtion. Some were hitting on the girls. With as many multi truck wrecks we've had since January, we need to discuss it and the things that can be done to avoid it. The two in Wyoming in the last week were kind of a tipping point, for me anyway. Time to do what TTR was made for. Showing these guys a better way.

Man is the only 'animal' that does that. Everything else does it only to reproduce.

I can only imagine how proud those companies are to see their company logo go plowing in like a bull. Really sad what is encountered on the road, especially today. Before all the electronics the CB was our best Freind on the road, still a truckers best Freind, few fail to observe it.

CB doesn't stop driving to fast for conditions and following to closely...does it?

Driving according to the weather condition, but one thing that could have make the difference is having you CB radio ON and listen especially with this type of weather!

Ken Worth, allniter, paul_4lp and 3 others Thank this.

The CB might not slow you down, but surely help to know what's ahead.
but u are right following too close in this type of weather is pretty much like asking for trouble.

I managed to make it through two of the worst ice/snow storms that hit Texas in my memory and my truck emerged without a scratch.

Not luck, just being a slow poke on ice.
