I would say..it's a good time to avoid Wyoming or if not able to...watch your driving behavior because you can assured that Wyoming highway patrol will be out in force for a while because of all this mess that was 100% preventable.

CB doesn't STOP a lot of things, but when used will aid in "time to REACT" of situations ahead. Safe driving is the key ingredient.

Speed kills but the real killer is hanging with the pack. Be a loner, learn how to create space when that 63.5 mph truck wants to pass your 63 mph. No....backing off isn't going to make you late....but if it will you probably were gonna be late anyway.

If there's one thing I learned(before I killed myself or others) you never know what's around the next corner. I see people driving their cars with the maturity of a drunk teenager. If I see a driver with unsafe habits you can bet I will call you in. Your company and the cops. Once you start acting like a professional the stress level drops off and so do the chance of violations and accidents. Drive smart not fast.

You know.. one thing that was drilled into my head... actually, the O/O who was my first trainer went beyond drilling it i to my head... he drilled it into my being... at at the time of the drilling it was annoying... but seriously several tk es throughout every day I was with him he would go on rants and hammer in his point...
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED... and be prepared and able to respond....

When I was driving and he was in the jump seat.. he would random test me... with things like "that car in front of you slams on his brakes. Whats escape? And it was best if I already knew what was around me so I could answer quickly. ..
He taught me not to run with the pack and always give myself an out.. "Slow up and let the fools go by.. dont swim in the sea of stupidity...

Well his drilling worked.. as I do not swim in th sea of stupidity and I take ownership and responsibility for my safety and career and always keep aware of what I am heading into, what is coming up behind me and what is happing on either side of me...

I do use a CB and often can get useful information over it... however, those that blab on with smut and stupid useless banter are ruining the CB airways and it's usefulness for safety and good information......

Preventing this type of wreck is pretty simple in my opinion. The answer has nothing to do with speed limiters, whether or not you have a cb, elogs, driving 55mph all day along or any of that stuff. If you were to remove ALL devices with any type of screen on them in all vehicles on the road the driver would be forced to discover this forgotten world out there. Its the one that lies in front of them on the other side of that big pain of tempered glass. Its called focusing on what's in front of you at all times and judging accordingly.

Great answers. DO NOT drive in packs. Safe following distance. Slow down! Each one of these wrecks could have been avoided by the simplest things. And a cb would help. No, it won't prevent everything but it does give you a "heads up" to what's in front of you, giving you even more time for decision making.

I agree it is handy to have but the problem is finding someone out there who remembers how to use one. They just don't compare with Facebook on the I phone with the newer generation anymore. You cant even get anyone to tell you if the scales are open or closed. Wont be long before there on display next to the pay phone at the Smithsonian.

True that. me personally, mine stays on. There's been a number of times where it's gotten me out of a situation. Case in point, I run US 95 a lot. And it gets pretty foggy going through Oregon. Once 5 of us were running together, keeping each other alert and abreast of what we may not be seeing.
