I'll chime in on this one did anyone notice that the R&L and the Wal Mart truck stop no problem? While CR England Swift ect just plowed on into it? The companies get what they pay for! Unprofessional under trained and under paid so called truck drivers!

I remember seeing the MI footage back when it happened. It made me cringe then and did again just now, along with the Wy footage... Just crazy. Lots of you have already pointed out the main factors and this kind of ties back into CB usage but can anyone comment where opposite travel traffic was in all of this?? i mean are they all just stopped watching this, was the rd already closed?
I'll throw out another question into this... Say your motoring along and you get the heads up about a similar pileup unfolding a short distance ahead and you've got no escape, your committed to rolling up on this.. What do you do?? Sure you can just slowly roll up to it and stop because you know where it is but what about the guy that doesnt know or have his cb on and he's just trucking right into... Now you're a sitting duck waiting to be back doored like so many in the videos... Not entirely sure pulling over on the shoulder ASAP well away from the action is the best scenario either..??

People also don't look far enough ahead of themselves. Not just truckers! If you did you'd see all those brake-lights in front of you and you'd slow the F down.

In the words of Great-Aunt Eva (bless her heart): "Folks done got their thumbs so far up their ### that you could pull it out of their throat!"

I watched the WY video a few days ago. It is amazing the difference, some drivers are able to come to a stop with room to spare and stay in control, while others are barely able to slow before crashing into several others.

Now, I wonder if you were able to gather the drivers of those trucks together and make them watch the videos if you would get any of the drivers to admit perhaps their driving could have been better ? My guess is no, in fact the worst ones would be the most defensive and probably consider themselves great drivers. Yet they were driving down the road with absolutely no idea how long it would take to stop vs. how far ahead they can see. No clue how slick it was.

That big wreck on I-80 there in Wyoming was insane just when you thought it was over....BANG, another truck comes roaring thru and takes out trucks who were able to stop.

Im pretty luckily because I passed thru right where that wreck happened about an hour before.

From that video these drivers looked to me like they were hauling #####, when they should have parked their trucks and waited for things to clear out. or at least should not have been driving faster than 20mph. Way too many drivers out there who don't know the 1st thing about driving in the snow and these big companies just hand you the keys and off you go.

You cant always see the brake lights in a snow storm like that because it doesn't take long for the lights to get covered in snow while driving. Regardless these drivers were going way to fast.
