I just wonder... why didn't they have it moved a couple days before? and now all of a sudden is so much time sensitive
-
Don't stress man...Get it there when you can,#### em....Life is to short to give a dam about some cheap freight...
The day i stopped caring is the day my life got so much better in trucking...My stress went way down too...Enjoy your drive and smell the roses along the way...jbatmick, dutchieinquebec, pattyj and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sometimes there is truly time sensitive freight that didn't even exist 12 hours prior to it's needed delivery time. CH Robinson has plenty of freight like this but they tend to keep information like that to themselves in order to keep the truck price low. Loads like that always command a premium and the ones who ship them often will normally pay one. It always sucks to book a load like this cheaply then discover after you get confirmation and see the customer what it is realizing your mistake. That's why it's important to find out if the times are critical with some questions. If they seem a little dodgy or whatever that's fine. Always price it at a premium rate to cover your bases and just be ready to walk away when they want a cheaper option as they normally do. It is amazing the fantastic rates to be had from CHR when a truly time critical pick is near you and they are familiar with your T number...
To OP I have to wonder what the whole story is here? Too many missing details to say who is in the wrong here. Stuff happens to everyone now and then. Generally speaking as long as you communicate early and often about problems usually that keeps them happy. If you just decide to take a 10 hour break because you frittered away your 14 that's on you. If a schedule is tight that ought to be discussed before booking.

what can happen? here are a couple things, 1 they may dock the rate by a substantial amount, 2 they may choose not to give you any more loads, but this is unlikely unless you have a bad attitude and/or you are habitually late for deliveries.
in all fairness ch Robinson has a legitimate gripe here, hos is not their concern, their concern is you( or your boss) have a contract to deliver at a specific time, you have failed to do so. short of an act of war/act of god type of occurrence, there is no reason to be late. ever.BookingYou19 Thanks this. -
Here's the catch the load needs to be delivered Saturday between 8am and 5 pm and is construction material so it won't be needed till Monday
and real reason to be late was too much traffic and lane closures along the way made physically impossible -

Traffic main reason I don't do east coast. Although 405 in the west coast is ruthless.
Container Hauler Thanks this. -

Get it there as fast as you can legally. If your not gonna make on time, just make sure you contact disbatchers/customer. You never want to just show up late w/o telling anyone. Running illigal to get there on time is a slippery slope. If you give a dispatcher a cookie lol. If thye ask you to run illigal tog et it there, record the conversation and report it to fmcsa. They are in violation if they even ask you to run outside HOS. Most companies are smart enough to hint at it without actually asking. If they say get it there or hand over your keys, find somewear else to work. If they repower it so you loose money, well it sucks, but its part of trucking.
