I wonder about Michigan. Can you get home regularly if you live in Michigan? I've heard from drivers that Michigan isn't the best place for finding companies that will get you home when you want.

2 weeks is plenty. Most are happy just to get their trucks back. If they were to terminate your employment do you think they would give you a 10 week notice?

I thought I had heard Tandem went bankrupt and out of business. Apparently not if they are still hiring. -
Run a search. Tandem has been covered here before. if they went under, it happened this morning, because they were open for business when I drove by yesterday about 1 pm. They are on my primary route around the scales, so I go past there quite often.
-
I'm still see their trucks running through here and I was just on their web site I think it was a different tandem that went out -
Lesson of the day, don't believe anything you hear on the CB and internet.

Sounds to me that you and your wife have discussed this move..and I wish you both the best...I make a good living driving a truck and I love my job....but I am single and I stay out alot, but thats my choice....Good Luck and keep in touch....

Yes, it does sound like you've discussed this to great lengths.
It's good to leave a job with them willing to take you back, if you should choose to do so.
And it seems they must have treated you well, for you to be so loyal to them...staying to train someone else on your route.
That will look good on your "Recommendation." (be sure to get one.)
Good Luck on all your future endeavors.
Merry Christmas!

Good luck to you and your wife as you embark on this new adventure.

No company should ever have bad feelings for a person that wants to better him or herself. You're giving plenty of notice and doing it right. You also have the luxury of having a place to live so making money right away should not be a problem. That will afford you the opportunity to be selective in the company you go to work for. Do some good research and look for a company that has a low turn over rate and be happy. Good luck and keep the board posted.
