After a mere 18 months at swift, I've discovered that its time for me to move on. I have taken a position with a local owner op that will have me past the house several times during the week and weekends at home. Several things prompted this move, but mostly its so I can be home more with my significant other. We've known for a long time that my wife has M.S, but it has now gotten to the stage where she can no longer be left alone for extended periods.
I leave in good standing with swift. DM, fleet manager and terminal manager all told me I could come back anytime. I have nothing bad to say about Swift, overall my experience here has been better than I could have ever hoped for 18 months ago. From the top down, everyone I came in contact with at swift treated me with respect, answered my questions to the best of their ability, and even went out of their way to try to be helpful.
For you new guys and gals, my best advise is, treat everyone the way you want to be treated, and never be too proud, or too afraid, to ask for help. Lotta good people here, and they WILL help.
For you older Swiftys, some of you I'm sure I've met at various terminals, Thank you for lettin an old man play along, and thank you again for sharing what you've learned here.
Time to say farewell to Swift
