Not trying to hijack thread but why do some states not want any tint on in the first place? As for the op....I would ask the company. Some of the companies my dad worked for let him tint the windows on his company vehicles if he paid for it...so ask your boss maybe if you pay for it?

less than 27% is DOT reg--must allow 73%lite to pass thru--most stock windows are already about 15% so ck--you can add some legally--Now having said this I ran all but Black Out tint for years and ran everywhere w/out a problem--BUT lately the DOT has been cracking down--and alot depends on where you run--southern states dont bother as much BUT--can--spend anytime from TX-Ca--see lots of trucks blacked out--just understand possible risks--also company policy--
Oh and one last thing--the state you baseplated in means a lot also--my friend here in PA--all base plate their trucks in Fl--just because of this--since PA state law--and the 2x a year PA inspections--and YOU cannot pass state inspection in PA w/tinted windows

Friend of mine had to take them off at the weigh station in Michigan last summer. He had %35 tint and DOT officer told him he couldn't see if he was wearing a seatbelt or not, but just gave him a warning...

The only way to be legal in all states is to go with no tint. States pass laws against tint because lawmakers are ignorant. I was in that business for 25 years.

When it comes to tint the advertised percentage is how much visible light can pass through. 5% is what they call limo tint. The higher the number the lighter it is. 73% would be practically clear.

If you don't mind paying big bucks there are ceramic films that are very light but do cut down on heat.
