I goto a local fire department ask if they have any old 4" hose.
When they ask. I say for my flatbed. And cut the end off. It has rubber inside to cover chain or a strap. It won't fall off like a corner. And cloth to protect the product being shipped

Full grain deerskin "driving" gloves are very comfortable. Great when I was a door swinger, but the finger tips started wearing out within the first week of flat bedding. I treated them to two applications of Kiwi oil after getting soaked and drying rock hard, and that has given them new life and it seems to have also made them more durable.

I keep mine in a case. It's really the only way to keep them safe. $5 at walmart or similar. Worth far more than that in terms of frustration.MJ1657 Thanks this.

I've heard those hooks called J hooks, but it stumps 2/5 tarp shop employees. Any idea what else they're called?
CanadianVaquero Thanks this. -
I've always called them T-J hooks

What's a good way to secure a ladder to your truck or headache rack? any ideas or pics would be much appreciated
-
I have one of those little giant type ladders. I put mine on the front of the headache rack (between the rack and the back of the sleeper). There was a ledge on the bottom of the rack the ladder feet sat on and then I put a strap across the rack uprights to hold the ladder in place. Bonus points for easy access, but out-of-sight, out-of-mind security.spartanvalor Thanks this.

If it is the hooks it sounds like, ask for deere hooks.
I have seen them listed in a catalog this way.
Used them to haul all sorts of JD equipment.

Store them in a sock, preferably new and different colors for easy ID.dannythetrucker Thanks this.

sorry, no pic but you can secure either an 8 ft stepladder or a little giant ladder this way.
you need an empty chain tray, I keep chains on right and binders on left, so I use the left one. Put the top of ladder into tray then secure with 2 tarp straps from eyelet to eyelet on chain hanger. looks kind of funky with a ladder sticking up upside down, but if you need one. I used to keep my ladder on the deck and stick it upside down in the tray like that only when I needed the room.
I should mention I busted one of the clutches on the little giant shoving it in there once, gotta be gentle, lol.
