Old Dominion might hire from C-1. Their linehaul division is good; terminal to terminal drop & hook loads. Don't do the P&D division; it's all city driving doing pickup & delivery all day, every day.

Bob is right, unless things have changed. Ask lots of questions and shop around. Better to start your career with a top notch company.

So I'm guessing going to the CDL School in Miami isn't a good idea?

What's the name of the school?

The reason I went there was there was no money required up front, no credit check, and they included the hotel cost in the loan. All I needed was to get there and pay for the drug test. It's a good option for broke folks!
By the way, I didn't work for one of their carriers. I went elsewhere for better money and paid the penalty. It was totally worth it. -
Smart move. Some companies will reimburse the tuition to you anyway.Bob Dobalina Thanks this.

Then again, some people like daylight hours and $28 per hour. I wouldn’t recommend P&D to a rookie, though. Too many tricky places to go where a new driver could easily get into trouble.Texas_hwy_287, SoldierVan82 and Chinatown Thank this.

Lol by your standards I have had ####ty paying jobs for decades. I have a 1990 Honda Civic that I paid $500 for and just bought a 1994 Dodge 1500 4x4 for $700. I could care less about impressing someone at a stop light that I will never meet. Hell even my T600 is a 1993. So everything that I drive is over 20 years old and no I did not buy any of them new.

Are all the drivers at your company driving a pos? Probably not. Generally a rule of thumb is just that, a rule of thumb. Not a hard writen rule.
