I'm putting new slack adjusters on my truck and I seem to be having a hard time shimming them so they are under .060.
The kit gives me larger washers to put behind the slack adjuster and smaller washers to put in front of the circlip. I've tried different combinations and using the fat circlip or trying to stack more washers on and use to the thin circlip, but I can't seem to make them that snug.
I am checking them with a dial gauge indicator.
Any ideas?

More washers! Meritor sells assortment bags of them.

A washer is a washer, Reuse the old ones also, just clean them up. The older trucks it was a big deal to shim under the slack to where it’s centered for the chamber rod. The newer parts have been built with better techniques. So it’s more standard.
In your case put enough washers on to where the slack is centered. Stack enough on the outsides to where you just get the snap ring on. Take one small washer out and it’s there.spsauerland, mhyn, Intothesunset and 2 others Thank this. -

It seems like whatever combination I put together in there I just can't get enough slack out or I can't get the snap ring on. -
No need to use a dial indicator, they are not that critical, like said above usually with a combination of the new ones that come with the cam bushings and the old ones, a guy can get them close enough.
