unlatch the hood, from both sides if needed break the hood loose, as u did before lift from the side as high as u can and prop it up from the side with a short 2x4 placed against the firewall area or something, then go finish pulling it over from the front once it's propped up. Once u figure out what u need and where to prop at it'll be second nature to ya. Hope this helped.

You might also try greasing the hood hinges, some lube technicians find them easy to miss.

they telling me the springs have nothing to do with it. that the helper springs don't assist that much, and they are not going to fix it.
the mechanic admitted it take him both hands and shoving from behind the wheel well himself to get the hood up on the one's I've been driving lately. and only one hand, not so much push, from behind the wheel well, for some of the other trucks there. I did finally see one driver open the hood from the front, but he is also a fairly large man (and I don't mean he's chubby).
    thanks for the info y'all.

Same with the 2011 Pete 367 Winch tractor that I was driving. Extremely easy to lift.

Does your truck have the rubber "horns" for lining the hood up when it is down? If so keep it well greased or your hood will hang up on it.

Tell them that the HELPER springs are on there for a reason " TO HELP OPEN THE HOOD "

Never had a problem with MACKS as long as EVERYTHING was in working order , and hinges lubed as well as the rubber supports ( silicone spray )

you will definately notice if the helper springs are broken on some trucks--you give that good pull and the only thing that moves are discs in your back
and please dont grease the rubber snubbers--often that will actually make the hood harder to open--and #### messy besides--do like flat bed said use silicone spray
once you have tried that spray you wont be with out it

FLATBED and Big Don Thank this.

It's a matter of leverage.. if you are too lite to move the hood where your suppose to grab move the leverage point.

Get a couple heavy bungie cords and a good length of clothes line cord. Tie each end of the cord to one of the bungie hooks.. hook the other end to the hood near the window on on the passenger side and one driver side. Put your foot on the bumper and put your weight into pulling the rope..
