The left side if the V is raised and the right side was an indent. And there is a bubble above the #3.
Strange thing is that you can't see the V anymore, just a bubble.

Time to remove. Could have a good tire cap shop xray and maybe a section repair. Run it out on trailer.

    he's a company driver..

his company will most likely scrap it.

i'd never trust any such "sectional" repair.

and i don't believe the x-ray would be worth the money that'll cost.

Yeah, I work for a small town 3 truck operation. Thankfully, the boss is pretty good about that stuff.

Th bad thing is it's a new tire only a few weeks old.

    Could be an
    1) impact break from road hazard/ curb.
    2) open sidewall ply splice= mfg defect
    3) excessive sidewall indentation= mfg defect
    4) sidewall ply separation caused by air migration due to torn bead during mount/ dismount.

I would go back to the seller for warranty. Even if the manufacturer will not cover it the dealer may for a good customer.
My experience with manufacturers is they do not want to accept much. It is always a road hazard, inflation, alignment or mechanical problem.
If you did something that would bust side wall cords you would know it and not be asking.

yeah, he even loses out on the carcass for recapping.

    big loss over all.

personally, he should "fine" the driver, either through a write up, and even suspended him for a day or 2, with out pay of course.

supposed to be professional and avoid that stuff..

the proper thing for that driver to have done..??

owe up to it, and make any punishment minor, like a good yelling at.....

if you look closely at the pic, you will see "scratch marks" at the top of the letter S, and number 3, and then near the + symbol.....

    it was curbed.

Yeah, now, see, here's an excellent example of why a company driver is best. A single truck owner has to take this in the shorts, and you can't just buy one steer tire, so here is $1,000 dollars in tires, only to possibly have that happen again. Let the boss have the headaches.
