Driving a manual trans does get tiring. With the new Allison TC-10, I bet all of you that "love to shift" will change your tune once you take one of those for a spin. It has zip to do with being lazy, being a steering wheel holder, etc. Times change, if you were real men you would get rid of your power steering because its dangerous, cut out your A/C and put twin sticks on the floor as you are in control. But no, you've got something to prove and want to instill to everyone around you how manly you are. Seriously, enough is enough.

Add in 80,000 on a wheeler and you just described my current ride! Have we met?? HAHA. You forgot to cut down on the horsepower to get the full effect.

What happened to this thread being about auto companies? Its so annoying how everyone must explain how much of a trucker your not if you dont shift. Word to the wise most of us new guys dont give a rats ##### what your grandparents drove or what you drove. We just want to make a living. Getting into the industry is hard enough with schools that go on all day, training that barely pays a living wage then riding with one of johnny peterbilts for two or three weeks only to be dumped out by most dispatchers who only want to load the old guys. So my point shut the hell up about your shifting and list some companies!

You make me laugh. By limiting your driving abilities, you are severely limiting your income potential. The driver mills are all about automatics so stay in that mode and have fun. I cannot imagine taking a 75 footer loaded or empty with an automatic out on a wet road. I don't care what anyone says you aint got full control. Oh by the way, I like power steering and air seats, etc. Back in the 70's the KW I drove had no power steering, my forearms are still like rocks and look like Popeye's. Come to think of it, that state of the art KW had no brakes on the steer axle either-right from the factory.

First liars don't stand a chance. I hauled cattle and hay with a B79 Mack. It had 235 horsepower, a 5 X 3 and ran 45 uphill from Ft Worth to Amarillo on a good day. I pulled Raton and Laveta Pass in CO with a foot of blue flame coming out a straight stack and doin all of 13 MPH up the old road which had a 13% grade. Most of you willnever see a hill that steep as most are 9% or less, North Laveta is now 6%. We didn't have Jake brakes either. better not tell people to Shut the Hell up on this or any other forum. You can get blacklisted these days.

Yeah, I agree, but it's his decision. I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but I just don't get how, in this industry which is supposed to be the domain of adults and we have a bunch of people complaining about how they don't get treated like adults, they'll turn right around and act like they need to dictate this and that to everyone else like some sort of nanny dictator type.
He's an adult. He can make his own decisions and reap the benefits and/or consequences of those decisions. What you've just said has been said many times over, and he's made it clear where he stands. So, why not let him proceed on the decisions he's made without the song and dance? Surely you wanted the freedom to make your own decisions when you first started?
